Stop the GOP The GOP

The GOP is attempting to confuse voters, using a basic behavioral tactic. When people fill out a form, checkout online, or complete a survery - they feel an obligation to finish it. This is why progress bars, goals on fundraising, and "almost there" tactics work so well in marketing. The ballots ask voters to select a candidate. Please don't. Doing so will count toward Californians who were willing to select a different Governor, despite your "No". Notice how you felt compelled to scroll down here? That's no accident. It's intentional design.

It's incredibly important to make messaging accessible to everyone. Easy for anyone to read - and considerate of ALL people, disabilities, languages, or learning and comprehension deficits. Please be considerate of those with light and color sensitivity...we must consider them and their safety, and care about all people.
A very common myth is that bright colors and flashing lights will call attention. This is not true. It usually has the opposite effect. While bright flashing colors - or even bright non-animated colors, can make a design dangerous to many people, what is universal is that we've found it strains the eye, and people skip it. Clutter, bright out-of-gammit colors, inconsistant alignment, text too small to read, and lack of a focal point will cause the viewer to look away and not read it at all.
Explaining Protanopia and Deuteranopia ADA concerns in design
Red, Orange and Green are not visible to most color-blind people.
Explaining why very bright colors strain the eye in design
Colors out-of-gammit strain and hurt the eye. Viewers will look away, and it could be harmful to people with light sensitivities.
Explaining why contrast matter for accessibility
Contrast ratio is important to ensure the elderly and poor-of-sight can easily read text.
Explaining why bad gradients in color make design hard to read
Gradients that don't follow a Duotone, Monochrome, Complimentary or Analogous color palette will be hard to read or appear murky. *Please be aware some people cannot see Red, Orange or Green.
